McAslan set for second George Square win – eight years on

John McAslan + Partners is the front-runner in a competition for the regeneration of Glasgow’s George Square – eight years after the firm won a previous competition which ended in acrimony
The London practice has been recommended as overall winner of a Glasgow City Council contest, ranking in first place with a 92.39 per cent evaluation score and a £2,293,610 fee bid.

If approved by the council’s Contracts and Property Committee on Thursday (8 April), the firm will finally be appointed to work on the prominent public space eight years after its original competition-winning vision was controversially abandoned.
