TRANSPORT Minister Fikile Mbalula held a media briefing on Thursday, 22 July, on developments in the taxi industry in Cape Town.
He was joined by Western Cape Transport MEC Daylin Mitchell. Mbalula said he had approached Police Minister Bheki Cele and Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula to have the army assist the police with taxi violence.
“This cycle of violence must stop. We must send a stern warning to all those who believe they have the right to kill or destroy property in order to achieve their narrow, self-serving interests.
