Mayors will accept requests to remove green waste
By Anne Wen
Mayors will accept purchase orders for green waste starting next week, according to Angel Sablan, executive director of the Mayors' Council of Guam, at the monthly meeting Wednesday.
A purchase order allows a mayor to schedule a time with a resident and remove junk. The purchase order accounts for the cost of the removal and transportation fees. Mayors, depending on village size, receive a limited number of purchase orders to pick up waste, for free.
Green waste refers to compostable organic waste. Items such as garden or park waste, including grass clippings, branches and weeds, fit under the category.
