Matts Creek wildfire near Big Island spreads to 5,978 acres

As the Matts Creek wildfire within James River Face Wilderness of the Jefferson National Forest grows, fire officials held a press conference at the James River Footbridge in Big Island on Saturday to address concerns about evacuations and provide new information about containment.
