Though Jimny is a popular name in India, the company said its decision to offer the Jimny SUV for retail in the country will be based on market research.
Maruti Suzuki starts production of Jimny SUV in India 
Maruti Suzuki recently announced it has commenced production of the popular Jimny SUV in India. But hold your horses, guys -- things are not as they appear. Currently being manufactured at the company's manufacturing facility in Gurgaon, Haryana, the made-in-India Suzuki Jimny is meant for international markets. Yep. In fact, along with announcing that it has started making the Jimny SUV in India, the country's largest carmaker also announced that it has also commenced the popular Jimny SUV's exports from the country. The first shipment of 184 units of the SUV were sent off from the Mundra port in Gujarat to Latin American markets such as Columbia and Peru.
