HENRY COUNTY, Va. – A Martinsville woman has been convicted in the first of two cases of child endangerment involving her 5-year-old granddaughter.
The Martinsville Bulletin reports that 51-year-old Teresa Hill was found guilty in Henry County Circuit Court of endangering the life of the young girl. She was indicted last fall after the child was found wandering in the dark along a roadway in Fieldale in March 2020.
Hill was charged with a second count of endangering the life of a child last week after the same girl was found walking barefoot in her pajamas in some brush on Roy Street in Martinsville. Investigators said Hill and the child’s grandfather, Robert Underwood, were asleep in their home. It took several hours to locate the grandparents and the 5-year-old was removed from the home by social services.
