A RIVAL bid to redevelop the empty Marks and Spencer site in Falmouth into a co-working and innovation hub has been welcomed as a 'very innovative and an exciting opportunity' for the town.
Anthony Dann from the Pentire Group based in Newquay had written to Cornwall Council seeking pre-application advice regarding its proposal to create the hub complete with a food hall, gym, wellness centre and roof terrace at the site in Market Street with access to the waterfront.
In a reply from principal development officer Laura Potts, the council said in principal the use of the site is supported by the Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) and: "the offering of co-working spaces, leisure space, food outlets and outdoor space is very innovative and an exciting opportunity for Falmouth Town Centre."
