Proposed marijuana amendments in Forsyth Township were met with mixed reviews on Monday.
The Forsyth Township Planning Commission voted unanimously to change odor control and lighting restrictions for marijuana businesses. The recommendations also limit where the businesses can be located.
Commissioners removed a controversial clause that would have prevented medical marijuana caregivers from growing marijuana in their homes prior to voting.
In a phone conversation, Marquette County Commissioner Bill Nordeen shared his suspicions. The section on caregivers would have stripped the right of caregivers to grown in their homes; a right given to them in 2008.
He added that the amendment had been a last minute change, and it’s mysterious why it was added in the first place.
