Officials say attendance in schools in Mysuru district has improved to 84% ever since institutions reopened on January 1
MYSURU: Although a special drive was conducted in December to help teachers undergo RT-PCR tests and obtain a Covid-19 negative certificates to resume duties on campus, many teachers in Mysuru district are still awaiting test results three weeks on.
The delay has caused confusion among teachers and has left the education department in a quandary since oncampus classes and the Vidyagama programme resumed on January 1. Teachers say they are unable to obtain test results online either.
In SOPs released by the state government, a Covid negative report was compulsory for teachers to return to campus. An order to this effect was also issued by the chief executive officer of Mysuru zilla panchayat. There are about 4,250 high school teachers working in Mysuru.
