What was most striking about Environment Minister Warren Kaeding’s scrum last week suggesting the Saskatchewan Party government was caught off guard by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s plan to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by between 40 and 45 per cent by 2030 was what wasn’t discussed.
It is no secret that Ottawa has no interest in working co-operatively with provinces like Saskatchewan that oppose its carbon tax.

Short of a few symbolic things like removing the carbon tax from the cost of grain drying in last week’s federal budget, Ottawa has demonstrated that it just isn’t listening to much of anything Saskatchewan or other prairie provinces have to say.
