MANCHESTER â They came riding into town Monday, a merry band of adventurers setting out on a 10-day quest to reach the Pacific Ocean on two wheels.
As they gathered in the parking lot of the Hampton Inn and Suites, they regaled each other with tales of the dayâs exploits, from the search for the West Paris, Maine Post Office to an accident that left one of their number scrambling for tools and brake fluid.
The Scooter Cannonball, held every other year, parked Monday night in Manchester after its 75 riders completed the first segment of the 4,500-mile journey, starting in Bar Harbor, Maine. They came into town from the east, down Routes 11 and 30, starting mid-Monday afternoon.
