ADRIAN DENNIS
Manchester United should have the following forwards next season: Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood. Then there’s last season’s top scorer Bruno Fernandes, who is unlikely to be shifted from his role behind the front men. Or Paul Pogba, United’s top scorer from 2018-19.
I’m excited by this. If Cavani, who the club only expects to play 60 per cent of the games because of his age, can be as effective as he was in the final third of last season, then United will have a proven world-class striker to count on. I’m glad he’s staying because in late March he told the club he wanted to leave. Rashford faded through injury and hasn’t been a starter for England in Euro 2020, but there’s a player there – one who is happy Sancho will sign.
