MANCHESTERÂ â The town of Manchesterâs budget process kicked off Wednesday night, as Selectboard members began the work of evaluating the spending plan for fiscal 2022.
Town Manager John O'Keefe emphasized the FY22 budget is still a work in progress. That said, it currently anticipates a tax increase of 4.86 percent for the 15 percent municipal share of property tax bills. "That's higher than we'd like it to be," O'Keefe said.Â
In the past, the Selectboard has tackled the entire spending plan in one day-long session at the Park House at Dana L. Thompson Memorial Park. This year, the five-person board, meeting virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is splitting the budget into two shorter sessions.. The second will start at 9 a.m. Friday and can be watched on Zoom from a link on the town calendar.Â
