BURTON, MI – A man who shot and killed an on-duty Burton police officer in the 80s when he was 16 years old will no longer serve a life sentence.
Shane Patrick Richey, now 54 years old, was resentenced to 40 to 60 years in prison with credit for time served by Genesee Circuit Judge Celeste D. Bell Wednesday, April 28. Richey has credit for nearly 38 years already served in prison.
