Jordan Nelson, 28, was arrested in Meadow Lake on Wednesday afternoon, about an hour after Saskatchewan RCMP issued a SaskAlert dangerous person alert warning the public that Nelson had last been seen driving on grid roads north of Meadow Lake and was believed to be carrying an axe or edged weapon.

RCMP announced the charges against Nelson on Friday and said the victim, a 74-year-old man known to Nelson, remained in hospital. No update on his condition was provided. On Wednesday, RCMP described the man’s injuries as “serious.”
