CANTON A Canton man will serve 16 to 21 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl.
Zachariah Crawford, 24, pleaded guilty to rape and another charge Friday before Stark County Common Pleas Judge Kristin Farmer.
The child victim became pregnant over the course of assaults, according to court records filed in the case.
As part of a plea agreement with county prosecutors to avoid a trial, Crawford pleaded guilty to an amended charge of child rape as well as gross imposition.
Court documents show Crawford sexually assaulted the child between December 2019 and January 2020.
After his release, Crawford must register as a Tier 3 sex offender, meaning he must notify law enforcement of his address every 90 days for life.
