He now faces a criminal homicide charge and is being held without bond, the Metro Nashville Police Department reported. Freeman surrendered at the Nashville Downtown Detention Center on Thursday night. He is set to appear before a judge Thursday.
Timothy Fields, 30, was fatally shot outside Bar Louie around 9 p.m. Friday, MNPD reported. His mother, Katonia Dortch, said he was the second son she has lost to gun violence in less than two years.
"He was just a wonderful person. If you were down and he smiled, it brightened your world," she said. "He loved his children. There was nothing better than his kids. He thought the world of his kids."
