A young man is recovering after being shot in the head in Shelby.
According to police reports Zandre Cherry, of Shelby, was driving in the area of Holder Drive and Morrison Street shortly before 11 p.m. on March 24 when someone shot at his car, striking him in the head.
After being shot, Cherry reportedly crashed into a residence on Holder Drive. It was occupied at the time by Latresia Peak and her roommate, who found Cherry in the car covered in blood.
"Total shock, surreal. The kind of thing you see on TV but don't experience in real life. that was a very shocking type of experience, initially," said Peak. "I just started praying right then for him."
