A man known to be involved in "violent firearm encounters" in the region was arrested in Clemson, according to a Facebook post from the Clemson Police Department. Clemson police detectives said they arrested Demeatris R. Sims, 30, at his home with the assistance of the Pickens County Sheriff's Office.During a search of the home, detectives said they found 15 pounds of marijuana, THC edibles, 192 pills of opiates, amphetamines, and other scheduled drugs, a firearm, and gang paraphernalia.Detectives said Sims was recently released from prison and "is known to be involved in violent firearm encounters in the region."
