OCEANSIDE —
A man kicked an Oceanside police officer in his face as officers tried to detain him in the parking lot outside an apartment complex Thursday, authorities said.
The officer was evaluated at a hospital and later released, police spokesman Tom Bussey said.
“He got his bell rung pretty good, but he’s OK,” Bussey said of the officer.
Officers had responded to a 911 call about a man who was pacing back and forth in the parking lot of the apartment complex on Farel Street, off El Camino Real and north of state Route 78, about 10 a.m. A witness reported hearing the man — who had just been released from jail in a domestic violence case — say he was going to kill his wife, Bussey said.
