A MAN has been jailed for more than six years for a Christmas Day assault which left the victim with life-changing injuries.
On 25 December 2018, Grant Farquhar attacked a man in a property on North Marine Road, Scarborough, hitting him in the head several times with a hammer.
The victim managed to get outside and was able to flag down a North Yorkshire Police officer who was on patrol nearby. He had three large cuts to his head and was covered in blood.
Further officers arrived at the scene, and Farquhar was located and arrested a short distance away.
Farquhar, 47, of North Marine Road, Scarborough, was charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He pleaded guilty and, at York Crown Court on May 10 (Monday) he was sentenced to six years and eight months in prison.
