A 67-year old man died in a house fire in Madisonville Monday night.
Madisonville police report officers and firefighters with the Madisonville Fire Department responded to 82 East McLaughlin Avenue around 9:00 p.m. after a citizen called Hopkins County Central Dispatch and reported a house fire.
According to police, after the fire was brought under control John Murphy Porter was found inside the residence unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Hopkins County Coroner Denis Mayfield.
The cause of the fire has not been released.
