Man charged with arson in Kalamazoo hospital fire found dead in county jail

KALAMAZOO, MI — A Galesburg man charged with first-degree arson in a Dec. 15 fire at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo died in jail two days after the incident, a Kalamazoo defense attorney confirmed.
Chase David Dalton Lovell, 29, was arraigned in Kalamazoo County District Court on Wednesday, Dec. 16 on a charge of first-degree arson. Lovell, whose bond was set at $100,000, was found dead the following day in the county jail, Donna Innes, with Kalamazoo Defender, told MLive.
