A man is accused of snatching a woman's purse inside an Orange City bank, then dragging her with his car when she chased him.The suspect was eventually caught while trying to escape, and disabled his own vehicle, officials said.Related: Man accused of forcing way into Volusia County home, stealing carJulio Figueroa Rodriguez, 36, was in an Orange City Bank of America, according to officials, but was turned down for a withdrawal because he didn't have proper ID. Police shared pictures of him inside the bank. Police said as he was leaving, Figueroa Rodriguez grabbed a customer's purse, ran outside and jumped into a waiting vehicle. Officials said the video shows that the victim followed, battling for her purse. She can be seen diving into the passenger side with her legs dangling out, according to the report.The vehicle began to move with the victim halfway through the passenger window. The video shows the suspect racing away. The victim was briefly dragged, but eventually was let go. The suspect allegedly said to her, "I am going to kill you. You are crazy. I am not giving anything back."According to investigators, when the suspect took off from the bank, he got onto the highway, driving recklessly, according to a law enforcement officer who happened to witness him. The suspect ran off the road, got stuck in the median, and was arrested there, WESH 2 News has learned.A number of people at the bank, including employees, saw the alleged robbery and assault."He was trying to steal the purse, and they were fighting to gain control of the bag," one person said.The victim reportedly was very shaken up, but not seriously hurt.Investigators sad Figueroa Rodriguez gave the purse back to the woman during the struggle but first stole the contents. Once in custody, Figueroa Rodriguez allegedly confessed but tried to escape as he was being transported. The arresting officer wrote that the suspect, "struck me with his elbow (and) attempted to flee."He didn't get far, and is now being held on an $81,000 bond.
