The suspect accused of shooting a woman on elementary school property last week has died following a police chase past the western Indiana-Illinois state line near Terre Haute.
The Vigo County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were alerted by state police on Monday to be on the lookout for an attempted murder suspect driving a blue Chevrolet Malibu.
Indianapolis police confirmed the wanted man was 32-year-old Brandon Shockley, accused of shooting a woman outside Mary Castle Elementary School on Friday afternoon.
Vigo Sheriff's officials said a deputy near mile marker 7 saw the car at about 10:30 p.m. Monday and followed it westbound. Sheriff John Plasse in a statement on Facebook said state police set up tire-deflating "stop sticks" near the state line, and the Chevrolet Malibu continued into Illinois at a reduced speed.
