There were no press conferences or live-telecast of Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin's announcement this time.
Instead, Malaysians found the entire country entering the Movement Control Order (MCO) through a government press release in PDF format in the evening of May 10, 2021.
In the file, shared widely via social media and text messaging apps, Malaysians learned that a nationwide MCO would be imposed from May 12 until June 7.
According to Muhyiddin, the decision for a nationwide MCO 3.0 was made in a special National Security Council (NSC) COVID-19 Management meeting, which he chaired on May 10.
