HONG KONG, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia recorded 5,725 COVID-19 cases on Friday, its highest daily spike since the outbreak of the coronavirus, while the restaurants in Thailand's Bangkok have seen easing dine-in restriction.
Malaysia's Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said that seven of the new cases were imported cases and 5,718 were local transmissions. The total tally reached 203,933 in the country.
Thailand has extended the daily dine-in time in restaurants in certain areas as the domestic outbreak appears to be largely under control, the Center for the COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said.
