Making the best of the moment
Fishermen have been taking advantage of the low water levels at Williams Reservoir by walking out on an exposed reef. The reservoir, located off Grubb Road, is down 13 feet from its normal 40-foot depth, said Mike Caprella, the utilities director for the city Lima. That’s not a cause of concern, though, he said. “We have five different reservoirs and the others are down just three to six feet, which isn’t bad for this time of year. We look at the water quality when we’re pumping out of a reservoir and also try to rotate reservoirs,” he said, noting that Williams Reservoir holds 5.1 billion gallons of water when full and currently has 4 billion gallons.” These fishermen weren’t complaining as they went home Wednesday night with buckets filled with perch.
