Making deadline on JCM, Madison another tall hurdle for Crocker | Opinion

Remember April of 2020 when the Jackson-Madison County School Board, the Madison County Commission and the Jackson City Council got together for ceremonial ground-breakings at Jackson-Central Merry and University of Memphis at Lambuth campuses?
It was an unusual time because the COVID-19 pandemic had just shut schools and large gatherings down, but the school board had just hired Marlon King as its next superintendent, and he was nearly three months away from taking over the district’s leadership.
A good number of people showed up for the ceremonies, and it was a nice symbolic time as King posed for photos with former superintendent Eric Jones and the interim between Jones and King, Ray Washington – kind of a past, present, future kind of thing.
