Maine bill would allow civilian burial at veterans' cemetery Springvale

SPRINGVALE, Maine – If it were not for Christine Pratt, there would not be a Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery.
Pratt, an office associate in the administrative center at the cemetery, which is located off Stanley Road in Springvale, has worked on veterans' issues for more than 20 years, and she is "credited by the public for getting the idea for a veterans' cemetery in Springvale off the ground," according to an announcement from the House Democratic Office of the Maine Legislature.
Pratt helped find the location for the cemetery and developed a plan for seeing it through to completion. The cemetery opened in 2010.
