MANSFIELD - Students at Madison South Elementary School learned about Japanese culture and seeds Friday during an Earth Day Celebration.
The Ram Rally, held monthly to reward students for positive behavior, seemed to keep students' attention as they moved from station to station in small groups.
All 425 students at Madison South made "earth dumplings," or as they say in Japanese, "Tsucho Dango," consisting of clay, soil and seeds. And when the seeds sprout and grow, the students will have a flower for Mother's Day.
Earth dumplings were popular
Students added soil and corn and wildflower seeds to clay and wrapped them in a ball and then bagged their project to take home.
