MADISON — Steve Adkins hopes to burn through $35,000 in 23 minutes this weekend.
That’s the budget that Adkins, president of the nonprofit Madison Fireworks Organization, had for pyrotechnics this year as he and local organizers prepare to bring back one of the largest Independence Day fireworks displays on the Connecticut shoreline.
Since last year’s event was one of many canceled amid the pandemic, Atkins said this year, his organization has created the show a little larger than in 2019, even though that year “was probably the best we’ve ever had.”
