MACKEN, Professor William : Acknowledgement notice
MACKEN - Professor William (Bill) (Bromfield Street Cardiff, Late Department of Psychology Cardiff University and formerly of Monaleen, Limerick) died February 17, 2020. On Bill’s First Anniversary, Barry, Irene, Gerard, Dominic, Clodagh and Anne and our extended Families would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all our relatives, friends, neighbours and Bill’s many friends and work colleagues who sympathized with us on our loss. Thank you to those who called to the house, sent sympathy cards, Mass cards, letters, emails, texts and phone calls expressing condolences. Your kind words were a great comfort to us. We appreciated greatly those who travelled long distances from Ireland, Scotland, England and abroad to be with us at Bill’s funeral. We were deeply moved by the kind words, thoughtfulness and practical support we received from so many people. Thank you. Our special thanks to Mark Thomas of Ivor Thomas Funerals, Heath, Cardiff for his sensitivity and professionalism, to Thornhill Crematorium and our Funeral Celebrant, Alison Davies, who officiated at Bill’s Service with such warmth and dignity. Thank you. We would also like to especially thank Professor Dylan Jones and his wife Margaret for their friendship and support, Professor Petroc Sumner, Professor Jacky Boivin and Bill’s colleagues and fellow musicians in “Miller 56” for their extremely kind expressions of affection and respect for Bill. Thank you for the many, many tributes written by Bill’s colleagues and students, past and present. They are a huge comfort to us. We shall treasure them. As it is impossible to thank everybody individually, please accept this Acknowledgment as a token of our gratitude and appreciation. Bill is a dearly loved Son, Dad and Brother, is greatly missed and we will carry his memory for ever in our hearts.
