The Massachusetts mandate that requires people to wear face masks outdoors will be relaxed on April 30, Gov. Charlie Baker announced in a Tuesday afternoon press conference.
The governor said face coverings will only be required outside in public when people cannot safely socially distance. People, however, will still be required to wear masks indoors in public settings and places.
The global pandemic has claimed the lives of 17,562 Massachusetts residents, but Tuesday’s news is the latest indication that the state is gradually recuperating as more and more Bay State residents receive the COVID-19 vaccination. Baker has either lifted or eased restrictions so long as the state’s COVID-19 public-health statistics and metrics trend in a positive direction.
