Update 1.30pm:
Tourists and residents will pay to park at the seven-storey Brisbane Rd carpark, but paid parking is unlikely to be rolled out at other streets.
After a heated debate that lasted more than three hours, Sunshine Coast Council has reached a decision on paid parking at Mooloolaba.
Councillor Ted Hungerford gained majority support for his amendments to the council officer’s recommendation.
It means paid parking will be in place at Brisbane Rd, parking at other areas including The Wharf will be reduced to two hours, and the council will not implement paid parking at existing street parks in the future.
