Oxford-born Central Saint Martins student Luke Derrick, who has already worked with the likes of Italian luxury label Brioni and Savile Row’s Norton & Sons, is about to present his MA collection, which envisions menswear for a post-pandemic world. And while we’re all more than ready to kick off our slippers, Derrick believes each of us will be carrying certain elements of our comfort-first, lockdown style – think slouchy loungewear, jersey sweatpants and suits that, well, aren’t exactly suits.
Viscose satin and silk pyjama two-pieces, which reference Bruce Lee’s yellow-and-black tracksuit from his unfinished 1972 film
Game Of Death, sit alongside tracksuit-tuxedo hybrids with elasticated waistbands and floaty hems, while teddy bear coats have been designed with duvet days and the evening chill of the pub garden in mind.
