Lonely widower whose poem about wife inspired Esther Rantzen charity dies days before 100th birthday

Mr Lowe (left) died aged 99 earlier today. Lowe was a widower who sent Dame Esther Rantzen a letter which inspired her to set up The Silver Line, a elderly loneliness charity that she runs.
