"So far it's working pretty well," said Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey, who showed a Patriot Ledger reporter the venue's layout on Tuesday. "This is not your traditional way of doing things, but a new way to do it that keeps it fair and expeditious."
The entrance to the venue has a court officer on duty and metal detectors like any courthouse in the state, where officers do security scans and screen people for COVID-19. The first floor also holds a jury pool room with dozens of chairs socially distanced for jurors.
On the second floor, past the venue's signature circular staircase and chandelier, are two courtrooms. Both are equipped with plexiglass-enclosed podiums and tables to protect attorneys, judges, witnesses and jurors.
