Covid-19 has dumped challenges on all of us, but for aspiring young artists about to break into international waters, this life-on-pause moment has demanded a kind of patience and philosophical acceptance that can be hard to muster.
Raquel Abolins-Reid, aka RIIKI, had barely returned from a fortnight in Los Angeles before Aotearoa went into lockdown. While there, the indie-pop performer and her manager Isaac Adams met producers and potential collaborators they had only met online, held a showcase and secured a signing with WME – the world's longest-running talent agency.
