Kyle Christopher Chapin, 30, of Pennsylvania Ave., Tyrone is charged with felonies for strangulation, endangering the welfare of children, misdemeanor simple assault and summary harassment in an incident that occurred at his residence Jan. 31 between 10:15 and 10:35 a.m.
A male arrived at the Tyrone Police station Jan 31, asking if there were any calls regarding a domestic violation incident involving his daughter. The man alleged that her husband, Chapin, had just beat her about 20 minutes prior.
Police were dispatched for the alleged assault and made contact with the female victim, who stated that Chapin had grabbed her by the neck, restricting her breathing for a few seconds. Also during the incident, Chapin allegedly hit her on the side of her head, rendering her unable to hear out of that side. He also reportedly hit her in the head with a vacuum and a trowel, knocking her unconscious. As she was regaining consciousness, Chapin allegedly hit her head off the bathroom door and pushed her to the ground while she was holding their 9-month-old daughter. There were no injuries to the child.
