COLUMBUS, Ind. – A Bartholomew County man was arrested by the Columbus Police Department (CPD) on Saturday morning after he was reportedly observed going through vehicles in a parking lot. He later allegedly threatened officers and employees of a nearby business.
Shortly before noon, CPD was dispatched to the area of Sixth and California Streets in regards to a man who was getting into cars not belonging to him, and threatening to stab observers who supposedly witnessed the behavior.
When police arrived, they located the suspect, Zachary Ping, 33, of Columbus, yelling in the middle of the street. When officers tried to take him into custody, they say he began walking away and refused to stop, so law enforcement utilized a taser to subdue him.
