and while the state continues to struggle with unemployment claims, local restaurants and hotels are still struggling to find workers to hire. And that was just one concern business owners voice during a roundtable discussion with Congressman jimmy Panetta Today, actually, News reporter Felix Cortez has more on today's meeting, he's live in old town Salina's Tonight And Aaron, some of those who met with the Congressman today also heard that more financial relief is on the way to the tune of nearly $30 billion. Congressman jimmy Panetta hearing firsthand some of the challenges local restaurant and hotel owners are facing high on the list businesses struggling to find and hire employees and what we're seeing is it's not just one reason there are many reasons from obviously the fear of coming back the switching into other jobs. People relying on the benefits at this point, childcare, affordable housing. But business owners also voiced concerns over SB 93. A state law that requires employers to recall certain laid off workers is very burdensome administratively and so everybody's trying to navigate how to do the right thing by their employees, get the economy going and yet be able to be responsive to the business needs as well. Congressman Panetta also offering business owners an update on covid relief efforts, including the new restaurant revitalization fund that will provide billions in direct relief to restaurants, bars and other businesses. Most importantly, business owners wanted the congressman to know they need legislation that will help them not bog them down in red tape than helping him understand what Washington needs to know. So that is it evaluates legislation. It can hopefully make better, smarter decisions about how it can support the economy recovering going forward. Basically. I wanted to hear from my constituents today, uh, for evidence that I can use back in Washington, D. C. To make sure that we can provide some sort of solution when it comes to making sure that our local businesses can continue to thrive. And beginning this week, business owners could begin applying for grants. Under that newly launched restaurant Revitalization fund reporting from Old Town Selena's, I'm Felix Cortez KsB W.
