First identified in the city of Wuhan in Central China in December 2019, the virus had begun its eventual worldwide spread. By March 11, the virus was ravaging Northern Italy and Europe was quickly turning into the epicentre of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 or SARS-CoV-2, or as weâd all become acutely aware â COVID-19.
