As a city, Liverpool has had quite the year.
From becoming the epicentre of the devastating second wave of Covid-19, to holding the first city-wide mass testing operation for the virus, it has been a turbulent time.
Politically there have been plenty of headlines too, with an arrested mayor and council officers and an inspection report that has led to government commissioners being sent to oversee 'dysfunctional' departments of the city council.
This week promises to be another that will live long in the memory as Liverpool goes to the polls for the most unpredictable city elections in more than a decade.
