Live updates: Derek Chauvin trial verdict

About an hour after commending the Derek Chauvin verdict in a statement sent to local media outlets, San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria took to a dispatch radio to broadcast a second speech — this one for the city’s police officers.
“Justice was served today against someone who does not represent you, or us, or our department, or who we are as a nation,” he told them.
