Stuart Newton was found in a flat in Oswaldtwistle on Thursday February 13 2020, but died in hospital the following day.
A 30-year-old man, Nathan Williams now 31, was charged with his murder and is standing trial at Preston Crown Court.
Police were called to the property, in Worsley Court, in the early hours of the morning, and found Mr Newton with serious head injuries
He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital but died from his injuries on Friday February 14.
Williams, 30, of Mount Pleasant Road, Oswaldtwistle, denies killing Mr Newton.
Last week, we heard how Mr Newton was kicked and stamped on by Williams after a drink and drug-fuelled argument in which the victim had confused Williams with his son-in-law, Carl McMahon.
