LITTLETON -- Sanjay Gowda is like many of the area's Indian residents -- watching, and worrying, as COVID-19 surges in India.
"My mom is hospitalized," said the Littleton resident, who is also president of the India Association of Greater Boston, which is sponsoring a fundraiser to assist in relief. "It is very devastating, what is happening in India right now. It's like the first wave in the U.S...this second wave is very dangerous, with variants and mutations.
"It has gone into places never touched in the first wave. It's in the villages, the deserts, everywhere. Everyone here, in one way or another, has been affected by this pandemic -- family, friends, and some, unfortunately, have had deaths in the family."
