Due to the spread of the new strain of Covid-19, Lithuania may step up controls on arrivals in the near future, the country’s State Border Guard Service said on Friday.
The government's emergency commission "is working intensively" and considering several possible options, according to Rustamas Liubajevas, head of the service.
"We, border guards, are getting ready for that," he told LRT RADIO, adding that possible measures include "certain controls at airports, and possibly seaports".
Border guards could assist the National Public Health Centre (NVSC) in checking if travellers are showing coronavirus test results on arrival and if they are registered on the NVSC website, according to Liubajevas.
