As impressive as Lit De Rose was in defeat in her first start of the year at Woodbine Mohawk Park on July 2, she was even more impressive in Friday’s follow-up performance in the $30,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Handicap.
An O’Brien Award finalist last season, Lit De Rose landed in the four-hole early while Marloe Hanover charged to the lead and whacked out first-half fractions of :26.4 and :56.
Roy had Lit De Rose first-over in the backstretch, and they were alongside Marloe Hanover at the three-quarter pole in 1:23.4. From there, Lit De Rose used a final quarter kick of :27 to win by 1-3/4 lengths over Marloe Hanover in 1:50.4. Karma Seelster took home the show dough.
