LISBON — The village saw its year-end general fund carryover balance more than triple in 2020.
Fiscal Officer Tracey Wonner reported at this week’s village council meeting the general fund carryover in 2020 was $296,678 compared to $58,452 the year before.
“There was a lot of bad this year, but there’s a lot of good financial news that came out of it,” she said.
Mayor Peter Wilson found that to be “amazing” given the pandemic and unexpected capital improvement projects they had to undertake last year. “And also the taxpayers, who did pass an income tax rate increase as well,” he said.
Voters in November 2019 agreed to increase the village income tax from 1.5 percent to 2 percent, starting in 2020, with 75 percent earmarked for police department pay raises.
